Kim DePaola appeared on a podcast this week, where she revealed Gia Giudice‘s alleged salary for The Real Housewives of New Jersey and applauded her for standing up to her uncle, Joe Gorga, amid his ill statements about her father, Joe Giudice.
Following the drama-filled episode featuring the latest Giudice vs Gorga word battle, Kim spoke of the payout the 21-year-old reportedly received for the currently-airing 12th season of the Bravo reality show and shed some light on what may have fueled the family feud.
“I read it in one of the blogs. And it said that one of the daughters, which was Gia, you know, New Jersey Housewives, got $50,000,” Kim shared on the February 12 episode of Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef. “And the husbands don’t get anything. So they were accusing Joe Gorga of finding out, and he was mad. I don’t know if that’s true. You know what I mean? But that’s what I read.”
According to Kim, she believes Teresa Giudice‘s daughter should be paid, not only because she’s now an adult, but also because she “brought it” on the new episodes.
“Listen, Gia is 21. She’s not a kid anymore. She’s a grown adult… She could write her own ticket. And I don’t blame her for wanting to get paid,” Kim stated. “She should get paid. It’s almost like being paid as a ‘friend,’ you know? So, and she brought it last night or the other night, whatever night it was.”
“If they want Gia to do what she did, why shouldn’t she be paid? Because again, there’s still dirty laundry from the family is still being aired,” she continued. “So if you’re going to do that, you might as well get paid for it.”
In addition to Gia becoming more vocal on RHONJ, she’s also appeared on Watch What Happens Live, recently serving as the bartender on an episode that her mom was a featured guest.
“I say, go Gia… I wouldn’t doubt if people start paying her for appearances, I wouldn’t doubt it,” Kim added.
In a book released by Bravo enthusiast Brian Moylan last year, titled The Housewives: The Real Story Behind the Real Housewives, he shared insider details about the way in which the RHONJ cast is paid.
“RHONJ has a special carve-out in their contracts, too. They’re the only cast whose husbands also get paid for appearing on the show, which is why they still film together when the ladies are away on a trip,” he wrote, despite Kim’s claims of the housewives getting nothing.
“In the past,” he went on, “all of the cast’s children who were over 18 also got an annual stipend for appearing on the show. I’ve also heard that some veteran Housewives’ children who appear frequently, like [Tamra Judge]’s son [Ryan Vieth], also get paid for their participation.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
