Kate Chastain, her son, Sullivan Cay, and their pets have officially moved into their new house. Although the Below Deck alum is used to spending time aboard mega yachts and sailing on the seas, she has become firmly planted on land in the last few years. In fact, she recently purchased a dreamy new home and she has no plans of moving again any time soon, according to her.
The former chief stew has moved out of her beloved Florida "craftsman bungalow," which she moved into in March 2023 (more on that down below), and has traded it for some upgraded digs. Kate took to her Instagram Story over the weekend, where she posted a video, showing off just some of her new house. And it seems like the perfect place for Kate to entertain — especially the outdoor space.
In the snapshots, taken from the Instagram Story, Sullivan can be seen checking out the outdoor patio with plenty of space for entertaining, doors leading to the house, and a ceiling fan to combat the Florida heat. She also captured Sullivan tottering around the outdoor area, which is complete with a small water feature and the most gorgeous plants surrounding it.
"Proud new owner of my dream home," Kate wrote underneath the photos of Sullivan. "Never moving again."
Kate then briefly showed off the interior of her house, including the spacious kitchen complete with an elongated kitchen island, right in the middle of it. However, she does need to do some work to the open floor plan kitchen for Sullivan's sake. Kate then turned the camera on Sullivan, who was opening cabinets in the middle of the island. "Still need to toddler proof," she wrote over the now-disappeared Instagram Story.
Prior to moving into her "dream home," Kate had been living in a craftsman bungalow in Florida since 2023, which she had moved into with her dog while she was eight months pregnant with Sullivan. This was not easy on Kate, but she was able to pull through, thanks to the skills she had gained as a chief stew.
"Moving + 8 months pregnant nesting vibes = going into full yacht charter prep mode," she wrote over the photo of her dining room, still packed up in boxes.
Kate lived in the house for almost two years and turned it into her own sanctuary. She transformed her dining room into a chic space, complete with a black dining room table and stunning area rug. She also showed off her living room in March 2024, filled with Sullivan's toys, while still being "aesthetic."
But just like with her brand new home, Kate had to do plenty of baby-proofing in the bungalow. In a July 2024 interview with The Daily Dish, Kate revealed that Sullivan's favorite place to play in their home is in her cabinets, which is not the most convenient place for him to play.
"What's interesting is, I mean, I have way too many toys for him, everything he could ever want," she explained. "Yet, for some reason, children just want to get into the cleaning cupboard under the sink and into the toilet and [to] play with the washing machine. Actually yesterday I heard the sound of running water and Sullivan had turned on the washing machine."

In addition to moving into a new house, there have been a lot of changes in Kate's life since welcoming Sullivan into the world in May 2023. "This is going to sound like I was naive, but I thought it would be only slightly more difficult than having a dog," she told The Daily Dish in July, laughing. "And it surprises me how it affects every aspect of your life. Driving, eating, sleeping, everything. But also surprising is you don't even mind because you love them so much."
She later adopted two pet birds and has had to make many adjustments in her life as a single mom. But, being a chief stew prepared her for this moment. "I have a one-year-old now, and I'm quickly learning, it's much harder than having charter guests, but it's the same stuff," Kate explained during an episode of the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show, as seen in the video above. "I mean, his favorite toy is a water bottle filled with macaroni noodles."
Kate Chastain is spilling even more details about her life as a mom and which other Below Deck alums she's bonded with over the experience, which you can read about here.
