Southern Charm season 10 has been pretty intense so far because of its dynamic cast. However, much of the excitement surrounding this installment has been over the fact that fans know Jarrett “JT” Thomas is going to leave the show at some point. The most recent episode saw him with his back against the wall as he was at odds with all but two cast members. Now, he’s speaking out and discussing his future with the show.

Fans of Southern Charm know that JT announced in November that he would be leaving the show early. He did so on Instagram, which many people saw as bad form. Since then, multiple cast members have spoken out about how bad things got between him and almost everyone else on the show.

Recently, JT took to social media and hosted a Q&A for fans of Southern Charm. He stated that his goal was to “let people into his mind” regarding how he felt about episode 12 from season 10. Before taking questions, he started by setting the scene and discussing feeling like an outcast after arriving for the trip to the Bahamas.

He said, “I didn’t really wanna go to the Bahamas because I was already on the outs, and I didn’t really know what to do. I felt like I was just sort of on the outs.”

JT went on, “I flew down there, and it was tough. From the very first moment I met the friend group, half of them won’t even acknowledge me. That’s okay but like that’s a tough thing when you fly to a foreign country and half of your friends won’t say hi to you.”

He then said, “So, we sit down at dinner, and I’m trying to keep it cool, calm, and collected, but inside, my chest is pounding.”

For context, he highlights the fact that the first dinner scene took an hour or two instead of just the couple of minutes the viewers saw. For him, it was a tense situation from the start, which only added to the stress he already had.

Still, as viewers know, JT wasn’t fully alone on the trip, as Shep Rose defended him on multiple occasions. According to JT, “I didn’t remember that Shep really kind of held his ground for me with the truth.”

For context, Shep held firm that JT didn’t call Patricia Altschul a derogatory name, which is one of the many claims Craig Conover made about him.

He added, “I mean, if Shep goes along with the flow, I don’t know what to do. So, I really wanna say thank you to Shep. I know it was a really hard episode for him, too.”

From there, he also discusses his public and unprofessional resignation from the show. He says, “I wanted to apologize because I made a public resignation from a really special opportunity, and I let down a lot of people who worked really hard.”

He continued, “It was bad form to resign like that, and I will be at the reunion. I just wanted to say that I’m sorry to my cast mates. It might sound weird after an episode like that to apologize, but it’s just not a good look. Bad form, and that’s not how I was raised, and that’s not what the fans want.”

JT also said in the live session that he spoke to the network after deciding to quit the show online. The Southern Charm star then explained, “There are some pretty special people who sat me down, and I listened to them. You get through it and so I do finish and we did the reunion and I feel good about it. I feel like that was the right thing to do.”

Finally, the Q&A actually started, and a fan asked JT if he regrets doing the show. He responded by saying, “I have no regrets. I think that I learned so much from this show about TV and being on TV. Life is a gift, and even in failure or success, you learn, and I think you learn more from tough times than you do from great times.”

He also said, “This was a tough episode. It was a tough season, but I learned a lot and got stronger from it. I feel great now.” Regarding doing another season, he said, “Let’s finish this season and take it one day at a time.

The last notable question about the show mentioned the letter he wrote to Ms. Pat. Specifically, the fan wanted to know if he wrote a draft of the letter. He said, “No, I freelanced that bad boy. I literally wrote that letter, and there was actually a part where I couldn’t spell a word. It was an easy word, and I was pretty embarrassed because there were camera people all around me. I ended up asking Siri how to spell the word.”

JT also said that fans will just have to keep watching and stay tuned for the reunion to see how things work out with the rest of the group.

Fans can watch Southern Charm on Thursday nights.
