In a recent advancement, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has come in defense of linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons has come under fire for his comments which were understood as a jab at the current coach Mike McCarthy.
The Dallas Cowboys lost yet another game at poorly built AT&T Stadium to go 3-6 to the season. The chances of “America’s Team” making it to the playoffs have reduced to 1% as per The Athletic playoff predictor. Ahead of the season, Jones had acknowledged that they were ‘all-in’ and looking to end a longstanding drought. However, ten weeks into the season, the Cowboys are ravaged by internal disputes, with former players calling the team out, and a dying roster depth.
After the game, Parsons openly made a comment that could be perceived as a jibe at McCarthy. He acknowledged that he didn’t play for McCarthy, he wanted to win it for players who were nearing the end of their careers. Furthermore, Parsons noted that he wanted to win the title for them. Parsons later blamed the media for blowing things out of proportion and taking his words out of context.
Recent reports suggest Jerry Jones, the 82-year-old owner of the Cowboys, reverberated Parsons’ statement. They indicated that Jones said Parsons’ statements were aimed at the players and not intended as a critique of McCarthy.
