Jax Taylor says he “will not touch drugs and alcohol again."

The Valley star, 45, shared an update on his sobriety journey on the Tuesday, July 8 episode of addiction recovery expert Richard Taite's podcast, We’re Out of Time. In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE, Taylor shared how much he appreciates 12-step program meetings — and that he is no longer ”triggered” by being around drugs or alcohol.

"I know for a fact — and I know you’re not supposed to say it — but I know for a fact I will not touch drugs and alcohol again,” Taylor told Taite, the founder and executive chairman of Carrara Treatment. “I know that. I have no interest in it. I’m not triggered by it.“

“But so now I can look back and say, 'What the f--- was I doing?' " he continued. " 'Why didn't I stop this years ago?’ “

Taite challenged his resolve in response, asking, “If you stop working out, will you look like this in three, four months?"

“No,” Taylor paused, adding, “I'm going to always work on it … I want to make it very clear, I’m not going to ever stop going to AA for the rest of my life. I love it. It’s like a drug to me. I love going and meeting the guys. My sober friends, I’ve shifted from my drunk friends, now I have a sober group of friends. We have a great time. We go out to dinner.“

“They care about you, right?” Taite asked.

“They care about me,” Taylor confirmed. “They check in: ‘How you doing?’ We go out to dinners earlier. We go home earlier. I allow myself to go out; I give myself a 45-minute window. Usually when I see my friends on drink number two, I'm gone. I just don't like being around it anymore, because to me it's disgusting. I just don't like it.”

Taylor said that instead of being out, “I like to be home on my couch watching my shows. But I'll give myself a 45-minute window.”

“But you’re feeling better now?” Taite asked Taylor, who exited an in-patient rehab facility last August for mental health and addiction struggles, which has been documented on this season of The Valley.

“I’m feeling great right now, as far as my health,” he said.

The Valley airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
