Jalen Hurts Delivers Blunt 2-Word Response to Super Bowl Question - suong

Despite all the hype typically associated with the quarterback position, the media has not been very congratulatory about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, as his head coach, Nick Sirianni, recently discussed when saying he deserves more credit.

For example, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been celebrated for being in his fifth Super Bowl before age 30. Washington Commanders signal-caller Jayden Daniels was exalted for such a special rookie year. Meanwhile, little is made of Hurts playing in his second Super Bowl in four seasons as the Eagles starter.

While the media may not be intentionally trying to downplay Hurts, its "glass half-empty" style of reporting portrays Hurts' experience negatively. Several headlines about Hurts circulating now are about his "straitjacket' comment after last week's NFC Championship win over Washington.

This was the case when a reporter asked Hurts what his most vivid memory was of the Eagles' Super Bowl LVII loss. The 26-year-old provided a terse response.

"Next question," said Hurts.

The reporter quickly attempted to pivot the question, perhaps realizing its tone when measured against Hurts' response.

"What'd you learn from that you could apply to returning (to Super Bowl LIX)?" asked the reporter.

"Hindsight, from a perspective that not everyone has experienced that before," Hurts said. "Everything that comes with the week. There's something about being a good influence on the guys that haven't been there before. Being able to answer questions. Open that door so everyone's that much closer when we go out there with experience. In the end, it's a business trip, and it's an opportunity we've worked to have and want to take advantage of."

Hurts is coming off a huge game in the NFC Championship, where he passed for 246 yards and one touchdown. He also added 16 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

The Eagles play the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on February, a rematch of their Super Bowl LVII loss to Kansas City.
