If you polled most NFL fans around the country, they would unequivocally state that Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is a far better coach than Philadelphia Eagles' Nick Sirianni.
Yet, through their first four seasons as head coach of their respective teams, it's Sirianni with the better record.
Is it time to state that Sirianni is not only a good coach but one who is being judged too harshly by his own fans and media members? Recent events say it's absolutely true.
Philadelphia has won their last five games, has a half-game lead in the NFC East division race, and is just a game back of Detroit for the top seed in the entire conference.
A calling card of Sirianni's is being able to adapt to what his team needs at any given time. It allowed him to lead a playoff team in his first year, and reach the Super Bowl in his second.
Campbell, meanwhile, has been to the playoffs once, and reached the NFC Championship game in his third year. While his ability to rebuild the Lions into an NFL power can be commended, he (like Srianni) took over a team that won five games the year prior.
His overaggressiveness also cost his team a chance at reaching the Super Bowl as well.
Sirianni and Campbell are alike in a lot of ways. Neither call plays for their respective team, they both have a roster filled with talent, and both have a penchant for overthinking situations.
But while Campbell is now revered as a coach in Detroit, Sirianni is considered just a guy along for the ride. Perhaps it is time for the Eagles head coach to finally get his flowers.
