Craig Conover is now single after his breakup from Paige DeSorbo last year, followed by a more recent short-lived romance.
The Southern Charm cast member appeared on The Toast podcast on Wednesday, June 25, where he confirmed that he is single at the moment. He had previously revealed to Andy Cohen in March that he was seeing someone. "I'm really happy," he noted during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
But now, Craig is sharing why things did not work out between them. "I was seeing a really, really nice girl," he said. "She will be someone's perfect person. I just wasn't ready to date, but I didn't know that."
He continued, noting that he needs to work on himself before he's ready to date again. "She's just a wonderful person, but I really was like, 'Oh, I have some healing to do. You know, I have to go find myself again.'"
He also revealed that he plans on leaving his Charleston house to live in London for a few months this fall. "I think I realize that it's not fair to anyone else for me to seriously date them right now," he explained. "I was like, 'I just want to live somewhere else for a little bit. And just do these life experiences, I might not have a chance to do again."
Craig admitted on the podcast that he prefers to meet his partners out in the real world. "I was always a bar person," he said. "Like, I love to meet people out through mutual friends."
"Like, I'm actually pretty shy when it comes to talking to someone blindly," he noted. "So I loved meeting people at the bar through mutual friends. And then we would just start to hang out more and more."
But he also knows that meeting the one isn't something that he can predict, either. "I just don't think you can make a plan," he admitted on the podcast. "I think one of the messages I receive the most is like, 'It'll happen when you least expect it.' And like, I just have to put my hope into that."
Craig appeared on an episode of the podcast, 2 Fake Seals, in late May, where he admitted that he has been a little lost during this part of his life. "I'm coming into a stage in my life where I don't know what my purpose is. It's funny, it's an odd way to feel," he said.
Although Craig has been busy with his career and building his Sewing Down South empire, he also admitted that he does want more. "I don't know. What am I here for? It's too existential for this convo, but finding myself single at 37 and [nothing] against that, I'm just saying that I think I was like, 'Oh, I'm gonna have a family.'"
"What I mean is that, now, all of a sudden, I'm only answering to myself," he added. "So what do I do with my time to make it count?"
