Each week during Bachelor in Paradise, Head of Paradise relations (and former Bachelorette) Hannah Brown will answer a few questions about the cast's "journey" to find "love." Today, Hannah shares her thoughts on Dale and Kat's blowout, April's surprising decision at the rose ceremony, and more.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: This week, we learned that men still send mixed messages in their Golden years. After flirting it up with April last week, Kim totally friend-zoned her this week because he wanted Leslie's rose. What was your reaction to that development?
HANNAH BROWN: Ha! The conversation between April and Kim was tough to watch, but I do have to agree with her, he was sending very mixed signals and then just friend-zoned her. I mean, you can’t push something if he doesn’t feel it. At the same time, it didn’t really seem like he was making much of an effort to build a deeper connection with Leslie, either — especially compared to what she’s clearly building with Gary. That felt more genuine. Leslie did end up giving Kim the rose so I guess we will see how that continues to develop. The poem was definitely unexpected, but maybe there’s more to their story than we’ve seen so far.

Speaking of April, she shared a passionate smooch with Jack, but then she shocked everyone by giving her rose to Jonathon! And April does flirt with Jonathon a lot... is it just me, or does she secretly want to pursue a romantic relationship with him? (He did admit to sleeping with someone 25 years older than he is, after all!)
April is just the sweetest — truly a joy to watch. What I love about her is she’s all in for fun and really living life to the fullest. So, if that means exploring something with Jonathan, I say go for it. But I think she’s got a real soft spot for him and likes to make that known. You could tell she didn’t want to see him go, and honestly, I think she sees a little bit of herself in him. She knows he’s got potential.

Gary and Leslie hit it off, which left Natascha feeling like a third wheel even though she gave Gary her rose. And then Nancy arrived, which made Leslie nervous because Gary seemed interested in her. I can't stand watching any of the Goldens be disappointed — how do you handle it?
I just love the Goldens so much — like, it genuinely hurts my soul to see even one of them disappointed. I just want every single one of them to find love and be happy, because they all deserve that kind of joy! How do we keep them all???
Okay, so at the beginning for like a split second, I was really trying to understand where Dale was coming from. But then he started talking in all these weird metaphors and sayings, and then he was telling the guys that he just didn’t want to fight on a rose ceremony night. He clearly wanted her rose and I totally get where Kat’s coming from — she just wants someone whose words and actions actually line up, like, in real time. But honestly? I still don’t even know what "deaded it" means, and I’m not afraid to say it!

Given their communication issues, what advice would you have for Dale and Kat as they try to move past this disagreement?
That was really tough to watch! My heart honestly went out to Kat in that moment. I think it might be time for both of them to start looking at other connections — ‘cause as a viewer it just doesn't feel right anymore.
