Hannah Berner has apologized to Megan Thee Stallion after receiving backlash for telling the singer she listens to her music before she wants to “fight someone.”
“Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine,” Berner wrote on her Instagram Story on Thursday. “I love her music and it’s my go to whenever I need to boost my confidence before a show.”
“Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except ‘fight’ to describe how her songs impact me,” she added. “It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan.”

The comedian, 33, concluded her statement by expressing her appreciation for “everyone who brought this to [her] attention.”
Berner found herself in the midst of controversy this week after her interview with the “Body” signer, 30, at the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty Sunday went viral.
During the red carpet chat, Berner and her “Giggly Squad” co-host Paige DeSorbo began praising Megan for her “confidence” when Berner took the conversation in a different direction.

During the interview, Berner told Megan that her music makes her “want to fight someone.”WireImage
“Your music has literally made me, like, when I want to fight someone, I listen to your music,” Berner said.
The Grammy winner seemed to try and change the subject by replying, “You want to throw that fighting s–t out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad bitch.”
However, Berner didn’t seem to totally comprehend her change of subject and said, “When people are talking s–t, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion!'”

The “Summer House” alum quickly started facing backlash for the interview –– with some people accusing her of being “microaggressive” and others pointing out Megan’s past history with domestic violence.
The “Savage” rapper was previously shot in the foot by Tory Lanez in 2020. He was later sentenced to 10 years in prison.

“Microagressions [sic] about Megan Thee Stallions music is ABSOLUTELY absurd,” another user wrote on TikTok. “She does NOT make fighting music nor does it make anyone want to fight. You stereotyped her as an angry black woman and laughed about it to seem as if it wasn’t passive agressive [sic].”
“Hey love you but an apology is necessary,” someone else wrote.
Vanity Fair has yet to issue a statement about the interview.
