Everything To Know About Porsha Williams’ Court Win Over Simon Guobadia

Somewhere Frick and the rest of the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast are celebrating Porsha Williams’ win over her ex-husband, Simon Guobadia. Fans of the ATL franchise were surprised when Porsha revealed she had married the Nigerian businessman in 2022. Not only was Simon the ex of a once close friend, but the age difference was a pause for concern. However, Porsha seemed happy until she wasn’t. Now, she is fighting a bitter divorce battle with Simon but recently had a significant win.

Porsha Williams scores significant victory in divorce battle

Porsha Williams returns to RHOA after winning in court.

The returning peach has had quite the uphill battle regarding her separation from Simon. But a judge recently granted Porsha’s request to “quash” Simon’s subpoena. He has also requested a videotaped deposition of her employer, True Entertainment. Per Us Weekly, Simon also requested a protective order against the Bravo star. The judge denied Simon’s emergency motions regarding discovery. Porsha was awarded attorney’s fees and litigation expenses to be paid by her ex.

The filing also concerns the former couple’s prenuptial agreement. According to the court documents, Simon argued “that Wife’s desire to return to reality television or employment in the future constitutes a non-disclosure of material fact and misrepresentation that renders the Prenuptial Agreement unenforceable.” However, the court found Simon’s claims that Porsha agreed to be a stay-at-home mother and forgo a career to be “invalid.” The judge did not “find merit” in the argument “as the Court finds that Wife has been a reality TV celebrity for years, which was well known to Husband at the time of negotiating the Prenuptial Agreement, and Husband nevertheless married Wife with this knowledge.”

Porsha Williams could gain a lot from her prenuptial agreement

The former couple’s prenuptial agreement states that its “central purpose is to avoid contested and expensive litigation, including the costly and potentially intrusive discovery process if an Event of Dissolution occurs.” And disillusioned we are! The Fulton County court ruling also reads it “undisputed by both parties that the Prenuptial Agreement at issue, in this case, was negotiated by the parties with very competent lawyers over a year length of time, and included the exchange of financial disclosures, such that the issues of fraud, mistake, misrepresentation, and duress are clearly addressed in multiple provisions of the Prenuptial Agreement.”

The court documents added, “Essentially, the crux of Husband’s argument could have been explicitly contained within the four corners of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement, and it was not.” Even though this might be court jargon to viewers, it is a major step in the right direction for Porsha. This win now brings the Real Housewives of Atlanta star to her final step in her divorce process. Soon, the prenuptial agreement is officially upheld. Then, Porsha will once again be a single lady, and Simon will take care of her legal expenses.

How did Porsha Williams come out as the victor?

The Fulton County court found it easy to rule in Porsha’s favor. This was because the prenuptial documents specified that “serving, conducting, or attempting to serve or conduct, any discovery whatsoever, either upon/toward the other Party or upon/toward any third party.” For Porsha, this meant that Simon’s written discovery or issuing of subpoenas would violate the prenup. Thankfully, Porsha had the wherewithal to contest Simon’s legal actions, and the court agreed that she was correct. Porsha has been fighting Simon since she first filed for divorce back in February.

Almost immediately, Simon and Porsha started to fight over the viability of their prenup. Up until now, the couple had argued over who was allowed to occupy their marital home and Porsha’s financial standing. Simon finally spoke out in his own post captured by The Neighborhood Talk. Simon wrote, “When is People Magazine going to realize they are being used as a propaganda machine to propagate lies. Here is an excerpt to the Fulton County Judge’s ORDER. This matter is headed to the appellate court level, and a major publication like People Magazine is being used to propagate lies. A win is a stretch SMDH.”

Porsha is so close to the finish line now that she can probably taste it. Fans will have a chance to see a lot of the drama when she makes her triumphant return to the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
