DAN Edgar has broken his silence on his split from Ella Rae Wise after they called time on their romance a week before she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Towie hunk Dan, 34, and stunning Ella, 24, have kept fans of the ITVBE reality show gripped with their on/off relationship since they got together during a cast trip to Bali in January last year.
But, ahead of her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Ella confirmed they’ve finally called it a day.
Now Dan has spoken out - revealing how they left things before her latest telly gig.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he said: “The past week has seen a strange turn of events and things have been said that I didn’t really want to comment on.
"But, to put it straight, Ella and I agreed to go our separate ways amicably last week, and were speaking right up until she left to go into the house.
“I think we both have our reasons for why it wasn’t working out, but there are certain things in life I would rather keep private. I wish her all the best and hope she enjoys her experience.”
Friends close to Dan told The Sun he was particularly shocked after seeing Ella refer to their sex life when discussing their split.
The pal said: “Dan might be on Towie and share elements of his life, but there are certain things that he likes to keep private, and Ella publicly discussing their sex life was just a step too far for him.
“It came without any warning and he really didn't expect that from her. He was shocked to say the least.
"He actually feels their relationship wasn't just about sex and was far more meaningful than that.”
Ella - who fans are convinced will hit it off with Love Island’s Chris Hughes in the CBB house - insisted she felt something was “missing” from her relationship with Dan when she broke the news.
She told The Sun “It's really, really sad that we're not together. We split up a week ago.
“We can be best friends, but if something's missing, what are we wasting our time for?”
Ella added: “He does do things that I think are so sweet, but there's just something that's missing. I don't know what it is.
“We can't just be together because we have a great sex life, it’s got to be deeper than that.”
ELLA'S TEARS
Last night, viewers watched as Ella broke down in tears in the Celebrity Big Brother house as she talked about her split from Dan.
It came after she was quizzed on her relationship status by housemates Angellica Bell and JoJo Siwa, who were shocked to learn how recent the break up had been.
She told them: "It was a week ago."
As she started to sob, presenter Angellica, 49, said: "I knew something wasn't right."
Ella replied: "I just feel like an idiot because I knew he wasn't going be what I wanted him to be.

FLIRTING WITH CHRIS
Since being in the house she has got close to Love Island hunk Chris Hughes.
Fans have enjoyed watching the two reality stars flirt of a storm in the famous compound.
Ella and Chris were even spotted holding hands at night in the bedroom, when the lights had gone out.
Fans are now convinced there could be a spark between the two housemates.
