Erika Jayne Girardi will not see a pretty mess penny from the $750k earrings she was gifted from her estranged husband/disgraced attorney, Tom Girardi.
The ruling:
The court ruled that the funds that were used to purchase the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star pricey jewels were ‘commingled.’ In law, commingling is the act of mixing funds or property belonging to one party with those of another party. It can be a breach of trust and a conflict of interest, and can have serious consequences.
According to attorney Ronald Richards, “Even Erika’s attorney, Evan Borges, conceded this is a reasonable inference.” Borges claimed Erika “married the wrong guy.” The judge reminded the court that commingling was not the issue at the prior hearing. In Ronald Richards’ professional opinion, he believes this is “Just grandstanding now for press purposes.”
In a nutshell, the court ordered the earrings are property of the estate, and Erika has no ownership of them.
