Emily Simpson has reminded fans that glamourous social media posts rarely reflect reality.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo Thursday, July 11 at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.
The Real Housewives of Orange County mom demonstrated this on June 15, when she shared an amusing “Instagram vs. Reality” video featuring her husband, Shane Simpson. The slow-motion clip captured Emily showing off her incredible figure and feeling her oats as she stood in her OC driveway. She was seen rocking a two-piece Robin Piccone swimsuit while her long brown hair gently blew in the wind.

Although the moment was quite alluring, it was unfortunately short-lived, as a strong gust caused Emily’s locks to blow directly in her face, turning her seductive gaze into an awkward squint. The mother of three then turned the camera toward her garage, where a visibly disinterested Shane was seen using an air blower on his car.

“Nothing will humble you more than a husband trying to wash his car,” Emily captioned the June 15 Instagram. “Happy Saturday everyone! Enjoy the weekend! What are your plans for the weekend?! I want to know.”

Emily and Shane Simpson reflect on their 15-year marriage

Emily and Shane said “I do” in 2009 and went on to welcome three children together: an 11-year-old daughter, Annabelle, and 9-year-old twin boys Luke and Keller. (Shane entered the marriage with two daughters, Shelby and Chanel, from his first marriage.)

The OC couple spoke about their relationship during an April appearance on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, explaining how they managed to work through their marital issues in the public eye.

“I think [Shane] taking the bar exam was probably the most… difficult on our relationship,” Emily said during the sitdown with host Alex Baskin.

“That was a lot with filming, with young children, you know finances, [and] not working,” Shane said. “It was just a lot to deal with at the same time.”

Emily says RHOC has made her relationship with Shane much "stronger"

Although opening your home to cameras can often be difficult, Emily and Shane said RHOC made their marriage much “stronger.”

“I would say that we’re probably an exception to the rule,” Emily said. “I feel like us being on the show has made our marriage stronger and made us work as a unit better and made us better parents, honestly. I feel like it’s really detrimental to a lot of other couples. I mean, you could sit here all day and name all the couples that’ve been divorced, especially on Orange County; and the fact that Shane and I have only gotten stronger, I attribute it a lot to the show. I feel like we worked as a team to navigate.”

Shane agreed: “I think in a way we became more dependent on each other.”
