C.J. Gardner-Johnson Shocking Reaction To Eagles Trade - suong

Even when the Philadelphia Eagles are set to move on from a particular player, the organization still tries to find common ground and leave on good terms. That much has been clear for quite a while now.

The latest example of that came when the organization shipped starting safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans Tuesday for Kenyon Green and a pick swap in the 2026 Draft.

Following the announcement, Gardner-Johnson took to a personal stream to let his feelings out on the trade.

And while the outspoken safety has never been shy about letting his feelings be known when he feels he was wronged, that isn't the case here.

“I ain’t going to lie to y’all, I thought it was April Fools. I ain’t gon’ lie. I saw 3/1 and I was like, man, this is April Fools, they damn sure got me, they playin’ crazy with me right now," Gardner-Johnson said on his stream. "But nah, wasn’t no love lost, wasn’t no bad blood, it was a great phone call. Great phone call. It was an amazing phone call, to be all the way thorough. Great phone call.

"Situation is, them young guys gotta get paid in Philly. Jalen Carter, Reed [Blankenship], Zack [Baun]. All them guys gotta get their money, they deserve it. Me getting older, so I gotta understand, like, there was no bad blood. There was none. Shit, all I asked them was like, between me and y’all, like I told them, I just want to go somewhere where I can play winning football. I ain’t ask for a specific place. This is honesty. I just want to play winning football. Other than that, you know, I woke up the next day and, boom, there it is. So, (bleep), we in Houston."

There are many players in need of long-term deals in the near future for Philadelphia. In that regard, the fact they communicated that with CJGJ is not only fair but the right thing to do.

And that seems to be exactly why the Eagles are still a prime destination at this point.
