The Cleveland Browns agreed to terms with former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins.
Teven Jenkins and the Cleveland Browns agreed to terms on a one-year deal Thursday. Jenkins has the ability to play both the guard and tackle positions.
The 27-year-old Jenkins was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Bears in 2021. While with the Bears, he played both guard spots -and left tackle.
He will more than likely provide much-needed depth along the Browns offensive line while competing for an open spot at left tackle.
Jenkins, who stands at 6-6 and weighs 321 pounds has started in 36 of 39 games over the past three seasons with Chicago. He is known as a tremendous run blocker and is working harder on his pass protection in the event he plays left tackle.
Jenkins became expendable when the Bears obtained Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson through offseason trades. There was no room on the line for the free agent.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was punished last season as he got sacked a league-high 68 times. However, Jenkins only surrendered four of them.
His pressure rate allowed of 3.7 percent was among the best in this free-agent class, according to Pro Football Focus.
The only opening for a starting position on the Browns' offensive line is at left tackle. However, Cleveland has plenty of room on the depth chart to fill in as they are replacing veteran backups at center and guard.
The left tackle job is not locked down with Dawand Jones recovering from knee surgery. The Browns just also added veteran Cornelius Lucas and might add additional lineman through the draft.
Cleveland's interior offensive line pretty well established with Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller at guard and Ethan Pocic at center, however they are entering the final years of their contracts. They will become free agents as Jenkins finishes his one-year deal.
