Melissa Gorga has been transparent when it comes to her struggle with anemia over the past few years. The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom of three continued with this streak of honesty recently, sharing a major update on her health.
Melissa took to her Instagram Story recently, where she posted a photo of her getting her blood work done. Anemia, according to the Mayo Clinic, refers to when the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen from the lungs to other parts of the body, which can result in exhaustion.
In the photo, Melissa can be seen at the doctor's office, getting her blood drawn. But, she took to the caption of the post where she clarified that everything is OK with her and she is being proactive in taking care of her health. "Very low on iron again," she wrote over the picture. "It's okkkkkkkk I'm on itttttttt."

Melissa Gorga opens up about her anemia diagnosis
Melissa took to her podcast, On Display with Melissa Gorga, on Oct. 19, 2023, where she opened up about her anemia diagnosis for the very first time. She said that she learned that she was anemic after getting blood work done before filming RHONJ Season 14. She then went to a hematologist, who gave her the proper diagnosis.
Melissa noted that she previously had not noticed any signs that she might have been anemic. "Now that I'm paying attention to it, I was completely ignoring the signs, which were fatigue...I've been going to bed earlier, that's for sure," she explained.

She continued in the podcast, noting that she gets blood transfusions for her anemia. "I'm getting infused once a week," she said. "And I do feel better after I have a transfusion, but I definitely needed a ton more. My doctor said, if you can do it twice a week, let's do it because we need to back my body up."
A year later, Melissa opened up to People in November 2024, where she admitted that her anemia is hardest to deal with around the holidays. "I take iron every single day," she said. "I have to regularly go for my blood work and check everything — especially when I start to feel run down. And this time of year is always the hardest, right?"
She continued, noting that she's always on top of her feelings of exhaustion. "I'm always on the go, I can make myself feel when I'm tired and I know I just can't keep going," she continued. "And I'm like, 'I think I need to call in for some blood work because I feel myself get tired.' And it's not who I am."
