Dolores Catania Says She’s “Back” to Herself After Heart Surgery as She Opens Up About AFib Diagnosis, Plus RHONJ Star Shares a Throwback Pic With Her DadDolores Canania is one of the fan favorites from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. However, the reality star recently took to her social media to remind people, particularly women, of the importance of listening to their bodies as she had experienced a bout with heart disease. She revealed that she has since had surgery and is now in the clear. Additionally, her hair transformation is going viral.

Regarding Dolores, she joined RHONJ during the show’s seventh season in 2016. The show is currently on a hiatus, but she is one of the cast members many fans would like to see return. Additionally, it has been rumored that she will be a part of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island in some capacity.

Dolores took to her Instagram in June to discuss not only her health but also to offer a reminder to her followers. She started by saying, “DID YOU KNOW THAT HEART DISEASE WAS THE #1 KILLER OF WOMEN? LISTEN TO MY STORY:”

The TV personality then said, “About six months ago, I was driving when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest that radiated down my arm. As women, we tend to ignore aches and pains, brushing them off as part of everyday life- but this felt different.”

Dolores continued, “After that, I started experiencing frequent flutters in my chest, sometimes waking me up at night. Eventually, I got scared enough to call my cardiologist. He gave me a heart monitor to wear, and within hours, he called to tell me I had AFib (atrial fibrillation). He referred me to an electrophysiologist, who confirmed the diagnosis.”

From there, she revealed that her doctor told her, “You’re not the same girl I met two years ago when you came here with Paul.” Regarding why she decided to open up, Dolores said, “I’m sharing this because I want you to listen to your body. That racing or fluttering in your chest you feel when doing simple tasks during the day- that’s your body trying to tell you something. DON’T IGNORE THIS. AFib increases your risk of stroke or heart attack.”

Dolores added, “I’m now 6 weeks out and back to myself! I’ll be off all medication soon, and I haven’t had any episodes since the procedure. Please don’t wait. Your heart health is not something to take lightly. If you need recommendations for doctors, I was truly in the best of hands. Take care of yourself you deserve it!!”

Her post on Instagram included a video of her in the car on the way to the hospital for her operation, as well as a picture with the doctor. Additionally, she included contact information for her medical team in case others need options.

On a lighter note, Bravo highlighted a throwback photo of Dolores, in which she had short hair. She said in the caption of the 2018 post, “#Throwback of me going to prom and my dad came home to tell my date that I can’t go out after. Thank you to my parents who made me into the person I am today! Read my story! LINK IN BIO.”
