Ruth Langsford headed on a wild day out with her pals as she enjoyed her birthday celebrations, but kept her wedding ring firmly on. The surprising move comes after the Loose Women presenter split from husband Eamonn Holmes last May.

She marked her first birthday since the breakdown of her marriage earlier in the week as she celebrated turning 65. The couple, who had been together since 1996 and married since 2010, announced their shock split after 14 years of marriage.

In the months following the separation, Ruth has been candid about the challenges of adjusting to life post-divorce. She acknowledged the difficulties of major transitions as a single woman but remains focused on resilience and self-care. Ruth has also had the support of her closes pals through the tough time.

This week she took to Instagram to mark her 65th birthday. Posting a picture of herself on the beach looking towards the golden sunset, the presenter captioned it: “So this is 65…..thank you for all your lovely birthday messages,” alongside a red love heart emoji.

She has since headed on a six-hour boozy celebration with her pals Vanessa Feltz and Lizzie Cundy at the upmarket Gaia restaurant in Mayfair, London. Ruth, dressed in a satin blue shirt and black trousers, appeared bleary-eyed as she stepped out of the lunch filled with champagne and cocktails.

The TV star styled her short blonde locks in a straight do and was seen with her wedding and engagement rings firmly on as she clutched onto a black handbag.

Just last month, Ruth said she doesn't want to end up alone after Eamonn moved on soon after with his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander. Eight months after their split, Ruth also explained that her recent weight loss is down to the stress of her split with Eamonn and their ongoing divorce.

The TV star told Woman and Home Magazine: "A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with. A divorce is very difficult and it’s very painful, but most people don’t have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you.

"But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job. I’m quite fine being on my own, but not forever. When you’re in a relationship, it’s easy to say, ‘Great, I’ve got a weekend to myself,’ but when you think that might be every weekend, it’s a different story."

Despite their separation, Ruth has opted to keep her wedding ring on. In February, she enjoyed a lunch date with Lizzie Cundy where she was seen with her ring and in August last year she shared a mirror selfie following a pamper session and new hair day.

The expensive diamond was seen in all its glory as Ruth took the mirror snap. Ruth is said to be not ready to date again just yet. A source told Mirror: "She’s not ready to date, it’s not her priority and she just wants to have fun. Her friends are all telling her to, but she’s not there yet."

Ruth has had to watch on as Eamonn began a new relationship with girlfriend Katie. Eamonn was seen stepping out with his new girlfriend just months after his split from Ruth. The duo finally went public at the star-studded TRIC Awards in December last year.

Eamonn made a rare and candid admission about marriage during a Valentine's Day chat with GB News co-presenter Ellie Costello last month. After Ellie asked the presenter if he remembered his first Valentine, Eamonn quickly quipped: "I married her." The sweet admission caught Ellie by surprise as she responded with a heartfelt: "Aww that's so nice."

However, Eamonn wasn't referring to Ruth as he was instead referencing Gabrielle, his first wife who he wed in 1985 and with whom he shares three kids: Declan, Rebecca, and Niall.
