‘Below Deck Down Under’ Couple Hint at a Post-Season Romance

There were plenty of boatmances on season 3 of “Below Deck Down Under,” but one couple seemingly hint that their relationship is still going strong.

Nicolas Cattelan, who came in the season mid-way as a deckhand, posted on May 21 with stew Marina Marcondes de Barros, “Always remember what the real treasure is.”

The two were still in their blue Yacht Katina polo shirt and were standing on the deck of the boat with their heads together.

Cattelan and Marcondes de Barros struck up a romance when the deckhand replaced Johnny Arvanitis halfway through the season.

Although it began casually, Marcondes de Barros made her feelings clear when she left Cattelan a sweet note in episode 15.

The second stew’s feelings got ruffled when Cattelan didn’t acknowledge the note but when he eventually brought it up, they smoothed things over.

Marcondes de Barros Welcomed Cattelan As a Potential Romance

After bosun Wihan Du Toit and deckand Arvanitis were let go by Captain Jason Chambers, Marcondes de Barros thought that was the right decision.

“We need upbeat energy, we need jokes, we need laughing, you know? And that’s exactly what Nic and Nate bring to the boat. Honestly, they were a breath of fresh air and exactly what we needed,” the stew told Decider on April 22.

On her initial flirtation with Du Toit, Marcondes de Barros said, “I don’t regret going after Wihan. He’s such an interesting guy. He has traveled all over the world. While we shared many similarities, he was way better as a friend than as a lover.”

Since moving on with Cattelan, Marcondes de Barros gushed, “Nic is an amazing person. He speaks several languages. He’s well-traveled. He’s a nerd … We had a lot of things in common, and I felt very comfortable around him.”

She teased, “I think I ignored the fact that we were really good together until he kissed me. I had no idea he fancied me at all. I was going about my day normally without knowing this cute guy was fancying me. I didn’t want to get into anything, but have you seen his smile? I’m a human, I am a woman, so let’s see where this goes.”

Cattelan Gets Flustered Around Women

Cattelan may seem confident on-camera, but he revealed that he’s shy around the opposite sex. “Around beautiful women, I try not to think about it. The more I think about it, the more awkward it gets. I mean, they remind me a lot of the girls who didn’t want to talk to me in high school,” he said on his first episode of “Below Deck Down Under,” per Bravo.

His interaction with the charter guests almost got him in trouble when he felt pressured to drink a shot with the ladies.

However, he came clean to Chambers later on, who gave him a second chance. It remains to be seen if Cattelan and Marcondes de Barros make it past season 3 of “Below Deck Down Under.”
