The Colorado Avalanche traded left wing Miles Wood and centre Charlie Coyle to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday in exchange for forward Gavin Brindley, a 2025 third-round pick, and a conditional 2027 second-round pick.
The deal frees up $7.75 million for the Avalanche as they also retain a promising forward in Brindley.
The 20-year-old prospect put up six goals and 11 assists in 52 games for the Cleveland Monsters (AHL) this past season.
Wood (29) only played in 37 games last season for the Avs due to being placed on the long-term injured reserve list with an upper-body injury, putting up just four goals and eight assists.
The veteran winger is under contract until 2029, when he'll be 35, earning $2.5 million per year.
Coyle (33) was originally acquired by the Avalanche this past season in a trade with the Boston Bruins. The 13-year veteran posted a total of 17 goals and 18 assists in 73 games this past year.
He is set to make $5.25 million this upcoming season with the Blue Jackets before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
