The National Hockey League has just issued a massive announcement that confirms it for the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby.
Just a few moments ago it was just announced that the New York Rangers will be facing off against the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second consecutive year of the NHL's opening night on October 7th at 8:00 P.M. ET.
#NYR will face new head coach Mike Sullivan's old team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, on Opening Night on Oct. 7 at 8pm at MSG.

As stated by Insider Mollie Walker of the New York Post, this will be the first time Rangers newest head coach Mike Sullivan will be facing off against his former team. However, it will also be former New York Rangers assistant head coach Dan Muse first time facing off against the Rangers as he is the Penguins newest head coach.
NHL announces tripleheader for opening night that features the New York Rangers
Along with the National Hockey League announcing that the 2025-26 regular season will open on Tuesday, Oct. 7, they confirmed that opening night will be a tripleheader.
As the Chicago Blackhawks and the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers will be the first two teams to kick off opening night as they are scheduled to play at 5:00 P.M. ET, at Amerant Bank Arena.
Then next will be the when two Metropolitan division rivals, the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins will face off at 8:00 P.M. ET at the worlds most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.
Then to finish of the night the the Colorado Avalanche will visit the Los Angeles Kings in a Western Conference matchup at Crypto.com Arena at 10:00 P.M. ET.
