The New York Rangers season may be over as they've been lapped in the wild card rankings by the Montreal Canadiens. And winger Artemi Panarin's latest comments may end up being the final nail in the coffin for Peter Laviolette.![Artemi Panarin]()
The New York Rangers have made significant ground in the latest stretch of games. They've made it to 4th in the Metropolitan Division and look to be putting themselves on a positive path.
Now, since Martin St. Louis' Montreal Canadiens have found themselves back on top of the Rangers in the East, things are looking grim.
And instead of letting youngsters play and grow, like Brennan Othmann, he was scratched while 2023 1st-round pick Gabe Perreault slotted into the lineup.
Artemi Panarin had something to say about it.
Othmann would only play 16 shifts last night, and 11:45 TOI against the Minnesota Wild.
While the newly arrived Gabe Perreault would receive more playing time, with 13:38 TOI, 3 shots on goal, and 20 shifts.
Breadman's comments certainly ring true about the situation in New York, as Peter Laviolette seems to play favorites instead of focusing on developing talent like Othmann.
We wouldn't begrudge Perreault playing time either, but it seems that Laviolette's eye test was unbalanced last night.
Considering Othmann was so close to his first goal recently either, is just puzzling for Laviolette to remove him from the lineup later in the game.
For now, it seems like Laviolette is just throwing lineups at a wall and seeing what sticks instead of building chemistry.
Othmann has played 17 games in the NHL and scored 2 points( 2 assists) and is due for his first goal soon, and it could've been last night if not for Laviolette.
