Andy Cohen is facing criticism for The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s “non-reunion reunion.” But as executive producer of the franchise, he reminded listeners of his Sirius XM radio show Andy Cohen Live that the cast is “not a group that takes accountability.” So, why would he waste his time trying to fix something that can’t be fixed?

As Cohen has explained multiple times, Bravo shows only work well when there is room for resolution. When it became inherently clear that The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast had no desire to move forward in a positive direction, producers opted to cancel the reunion and instead host a cast watch party for the Season 14 finale.

The “Off The Rails” special, which aired on Sunday night (Aug. 11), put the opposing teams in different rooms as they watched the explosive season finale for the first time.

However, some fans would’ve rather had a traditional reunion.

“I do [think you dropped the ball],” Julie from Buffalo told Cohen on his radio show. “I think you should’ve had a regular reunion because there’s no accountability. Teresa [Giudice] doesn’t have to take accountability for what she has done, no apology to Margaret [Josephs]. I think Dolores [Catania], we’ve now found out that she really is truly a ‘Tre-hugger.’”

Julie added, “I think if you look at all the social media sites and everything, everyone is coming at you that there should’ve been a reunion — a regular reunion.”

While Julie wanted to see the cast “face each other,” Cohen doubted that it would’ve gone well.

“Do you think that people in this group are gonna take accountability? Who in this group do you envision taking accountability?” he asked the caller, who said he “could’ve asked the right questions” to spark some accountability from the ladies.

Still, Cohen was unconvinced, telling Julie, “I don’t think so. But I appreciate it. This is not a group that takes accountability but, you know, onward … I didn’t see that the online chatter is that I dropped the ball.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 is currently streaming on Peacock.
