Andy Cohen opened up about why he hasn’t caved to calls for Erika Jayne to be fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during the release party for Dave Quinn‘s book, Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of The Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It, on Tuesday.
As the contents of the book continue to make waves in the Real Housewives world, Andy reacted to viewer criticism of Erika before dishing on Nicki Minaj‘s surprise cameo at The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion and gushing over the “fantastic” 16th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
“She has not been charged with a crime, as you may or may not know, and the story is unfolding as we watch,” Andy told Entertainment Tonight on October 19. “And I think it’s an interesting story that we’ve seen. [Teresa Giudice] was involved in some bad business and we kept cameras going to see how that unfolded, I think, because so many viewers were invested in Teresa.”
Although Andy couldn’t say whether or not all of the ladies would be invited back for RHOBH season 12, saying fans will have to “wait and see,” he did say he hopes they will all return.
“It was such a blockbuster season that it would be my hope that it would remain, somehow, some way, intact…I hope everybody’s back,” he said of the cast.
For now, Andy is looking forward to viewers seeing what the rest of the RHOBH reunion has in store, and he admitted to being shocked by how candidly Erika spoke about the many allegations against her, including claims of embezzling millions from Thomas Girardi‘s former clients.
“She had an answer for every question,” he revealed. “I think there was only one question that she didn’t answer and it was a rollercoaster of emotion. She was laughing, she was screaming, she was crying. So I was surprised by her delivery a lot of the times, and I think the other women were too.”
Looking back at Nicki’s recent appearance at the RHOP reunion, Andy said the cast was “thrilled” that she was a part of the taping.
“She says sh-t that I could never say and it’s fantastic,” Andy teased. “She’s a huge fan of the show and this wasn’t about what she stands for, this was about an exciting moment in the history of the show and the women were thrilled to be there with her.”
As for the upcoming 16th season of RHOC, which includes returning cast member Heather Dubrow, Andy said he and his team “got the assignment!”
“We knew what we had to do. We did it. I’ve seen the first two episodes and it’s fantastic,” he shared.
Andy also addressed Dave’s book, saying that while cast salaries are typically an off-limits topic, they were discussed in the new publication.
“We never really talk about contacts and money. That is usually just a line that we don’t really love to talk about. I will say one line that is crossed in this book that we don’t normally talk about is hirings and firing,” Andy stated. “There are a lot of stories, behind the real stories, behind why people left the show. Whether it was their decision or not, that is a huge question that we get all the time.”
