Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe has already become a polarizing NFL draft prospect. Some analysts like Athlon Sports' Luke Easterling project Milroe will not be a first-round pick.
Others have Milroe as a potential top-10 selection in the 2025 NFL draft. The good news for Milroe is the quarterback still has a few more college football games remaining to improve his draft stock.
What is not up for debate is Milroe's threat with his legs as one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in college football. Through his first eight games this season, Milroe has 380 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso is on the bullish side when it comes to Milroe's NFL projections. The analyst has the Cleveland Browns selecting Milroe with the No. 5 pick in his latest mock draft.
"Who knows what the Browns will do in 2025 with Deshaun Watson, but even if ownership wants its uber-expensive quarterback on the field next season, he will be coming off a torn Achilles, which can sometimes be a 12-month injury," Trapasso wrote on Wednesday. "Here, Cleveland essentially stashes the high-upside Milroe on the roster."
Watson's popularity in Cleveland is not particularly high. The Browns took a chance on him despite some of the off-field woes by signing the quarterback to a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract.
This deal runs through the 2026 season, but it would be a surprise if the Browns did not explore alternative options given Watson's recent Achilles injury.
