Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it clear that he will not be firing HC Mike McCarthy mid-season. But with fans and analysts calling for a change, it is possible that he may lose his job after the end of the season. But one of his former pupils, Aaron Rodgers, feels otherwise.
The backdrop of this came after the Cowboys lost embarrassingly to the Philadelphia Eagles. Everyone knew Dak Prescott not playing was going to peg them back. But not in a manner where they just scored six points off-field goals. That total lack of offensive prowess suggested McCarthy was to blame.
Those notions were compounded when star pass rusher Micah Parsons‘ words suggested the team felt the same. Many analysts and fans did not appreciate him throwing his HC under the bus. Some such as Aaron Rodgers were asked about the same on the Pat McAfee Show, to which he gave his opinion.
Going by their history, the New York Jets quarterback had to give a shout-out to McCarthy. They won a Super Bowl together and have had plenty of success over those 13 years together. Enough knowledge to know that his former HC can push through this crisis.
Aaron Rodgers would love to reunite with Mike McCarthy as next New York Jets head coach
The four-time league MVP showering praise on his former HC suggests he admires McCarthy. That brings an interesting angle to the current situation regarding the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets. On one hand, this is the final year of Mike McCarthy’s contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
Suggesting that Jerry Jones will not lose any money or sleep if he just lets the 61-year-old head coach walk. Secondly, the Jets are without an official head coach, as Jeff Ulbrich is on the interim tag. This makes it a possibility that should Mike McCarthy walk, he can take the flight to New York and link up with Rodgers.
The superstar quarterback will then have a team from top to bottom with those that align with his views. This season is almost over as the Jets’ current form suggests they are likely to miss the playoffs. If Mike McCarthy takes up the reigns, the franchise can start next season with one singular plan.
