After years of rumors surrounding their close friendship, Kate Chastain recently revealed if she would consider a romance with Ben Robinson now that he is newly single.
Kate appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday, Nov. 25 during Bravo Fan Fest, where host Andy Cohen asked if "there was any chance" that Kate and Ben would get together following the end of his engagement to Kiara Cabral in September.
"I mean, I wish," Kate quipped with a smile. Although Kate and Ben have so much in common between living close to each other in Florida and having a history of working on yachts, it doesn't seem like a relationship is actually in the cards for the pair. "It would be convenient, but we're just friends," she stated.
Kate and Ben go way back to Season 2 of Below Deck, when they both worked on Ohana as the chief stew and chef, respectively. Since then, they have remained close, with Kate even taking her son, Sullivan Cay, over to Ben's place in Florida.
"Actually, I took [Sullivan] over to Chef Ben's house last week," she said during a chat with The Daily Dish in July 2024. "But you know, speaking of a place that is not baby proof, we didn't stay long at all. I was like, 'Do you always keep your knives out on the coffee table. Can you put those away? These chef knives, they look very sharp...' It was hilarious."

In addition to being good friends, Kate is also a good judge of character when it comes to Ben's future dating partners. In September, Ben confirmed on Instagram that he had ended his engagement. Kate then took to the comments of the post, where she left a very cheeky comment about the breakup.
"Maybe I should screen your next partner for you. Being a stepmom isn't easy," she wrote, poking fun at the rumors surrounding her son's paternity.
During the Watch What Happens Live After Show on November 25, Ben made a special appearance, where he revealed that if he "was invited" to return to Below Deck, he would "maybe" consider coming back. After completing four successful charter seasons on Below Deck and two charter seasons on Below Deck Mediterranean, Ben knows his way around a yacht kitchen — but he wouldn't want to be there for too long.
"If it was a short season, I would definitely consider doing it. I would," he said. "I'm ready! I've recovered."
Below Deck Med Captain Sandy Yawn revealed that she's also ready for his return. "I want Ben on the Med," she said confidently.
