Will Cuylle Transforming Into A Star Before Our Very Eyes

USATSI_24804003The New York Rangers have a star on their hands with Will Cuylle.

To everyone who’s watched the Rangers this year, it’s clear that Cuylle has suddenly emerged into one of the team’s most impactful forwards.

He went from a young player with an extreme amount of potential to a legitimate top-six forward.

Through 17 games this season, the 22-year-old has recorded six goals, eight assists and 14 points while averaging 13:51 minutes.

Cuylle is also playing a role on the penalty kill as he continues to transform into a two-way forward and has filled in on the second unit of the power play, with the goal of eventually becoming a regular on the man advantage.

It’s the way that Cuylle uses his 6’3’’ frame, making him effective both offensively and defensively.

"Will's been a real plus," Laviolette said via Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today. "He's physical, too. Again tonight, he's one guy that you know is banging bodies all the time. He's combining offense at five-on-five with physicality."

To be this strong of a skater at his size is pretty rare, but Cuylle is quick when on the ice, a nightmare for opposing teams to deal with.

He plays a powerful, hard-hitting and speedy game. These three traits are valuable and Cuylle possesses them all.

Game-by-game and day-by-day, Cuylle is improving and growing even stronger. If he keeps up at this pace, Cuylle will one day be a star in the NHL.
