Falling in love

Gabby and Marcel first coupled up on the third series of Love Island, in 2017.

Brits quickly fell in love with the pair, who made a pact not to have sex in the villa.

Marcel is upset that he broke the heart of someone he loves and someone that he shared so many special moments with, but with all the good times there are difficult times, and sadly Marcel and Gabby had been in a bad place at this stage.

They eventually came in fourth place and left the villa as a couple.

The loved-up pair even moved in together, with Gabby even revealing she'd say "yes" if Marcel proposed.

Cheating rumours

However, in 2018 Gabby and Marcel split up after Marcel admitted cheating.

Gabby confirmed the rumours in a heartbreaking post on Instagram.

She said: "Thank you to everyone for your kind messages, love and support.

"It's been a tough couple of days, I think I might still be in a bit of shock! But I'm sure in time I will be OK.

"I have the best family and friends around me. I'm a lucky girl."

Marcel issued a statement about his regrets and expressed hope that they may be able to reconcile one day.

The statement read: "Marcel can't really defend his actions as he knows he did wrong and will regret it forever.

"Marcel is upset that he broke the heart of someone he loves and someone that he shared so many special moments with, but with all the good times there are difficult times, and sadly Marcel and Gabby had been in a bad place at this stage.

"Gabby was a special part of Marcel's life, and he hopes one day she can find it in herself to forgive him."

Love triangle

There were rumours that Gabby may have had an affair too, with Jacqueline Jossa's husband Dan Osborne.

Addressing the rumours, Gabby told The Sun: "That literally hasn't crossed my mind for years.

"I feel like I'm so far removed from that situation now, that I don't know, it's mad that people would like even bring it up but I suppose people are interested in that aren't they?

"I mean me and Dan were just mates, but we weren't that good mates to like warrant continuing a friendship."

An insider revealed to OK Magazine that Jacqueline has "tried her best to forget about the rumours" and that she decided to give her relationship with Dan "another go".

They added that Jacqueline is worried that the upcoming series of Love Island: All Stars will reignite "speculation about her marriage to Dan."

Love Island: All Stars

Ahead of All Stars, Gabby told The Tab that she wants to move on from the heartbreak caused by Marcel's cheating.

She said: “We haven’t seen each other in years.

“I would like to have a conversation with him, and put it behind us.

"I don’t think I would ever get back with him, it was a betrayal of trust.

"There are no hard feelings.

"We had a great experience together. I think we could be mates.”

Love Island host Maya Jama also weighed in on the situation by saying: “I'm such a fan of both of them and that series was one of my favourites as well.

“I think Marcel is such a sweetheart, Gabby is just the loveliest human as well.

"So, I'm kind of rooting for them to get back together, but who knows, they could end up in a cute friendship."

Fans can catch the new episodes of Love Island on ITV2 from January 13, 2025.
