The hero of the night for the Las Vegas Raiders in their 23-23 preseason tie with the Seattle Seahawks was undoubtedly quarterback Cam Miller.
Miller, 24, is a rookie and the Seattle matchup on Thursday August 7, 2025 was his first NFL game action. Miller played the fourth quarter for the Raiders and completed 6-of-7 passes for 76 yards and 1 touchdown.
That included a 41-yard touchdown toss to Shedrick Jackson that made every highlight reel Thursday night.
More importantly, he put the Raiders in a position to win the game. When Miller entered the game, the Raiders trailed 23-13.
Miller helped Las Vegas score 10 unanswered points and even led a five-play, 31 yard drive in 20 seconds to put the Raiders in position to hit the game-winning field goal.
Daniel Carlson’s 55-yard attempt was blocked, but the bigger story was that they were in position to win in the first place, and that Miller got them there.
In a postgame press conference, Miller said the whole experience was less stressful than he anticipated.
“I felt like the coaches did a great job of putting me in at the right time in the game with guys that I’m comfortable playing with,” Miller said. “Everything felt a lot better than what I expected.”
Miller Had The Most Impressive QB Performance
In his short cameo for the Raiders, Cam Miller put on the best performance of any quarterback to grace Lumen Field on Thursday August 7, 2025.
His Seattle opponents were Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe. Lock completed 12 of 22 passes for 147 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Milroe was 6 of 10 for 61 yards.
On the Las Vegas side, Aidan O’Connell played the majority of the game and completed 18 of 30 passes for 205 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Geno Smith made a brief appearance for Las Vegas and completed 1 of 3 passes for 15 yards.
After the game, some Las Vegas fans even called for Miller to be Smith’s new backup over O’Connell.
Those fans need to keep in mind that first of all, it’s just one quarter of one game. And second of all, Miller played against worse defenders than O’Connell did. That’s how preseason football works: the starters typically start the game and the coaches work their way down the depth chart as the game progresses.
But, it’s still a great start to what is hopefully a promising career for Miller.
Other Raiders Standouts
Jamal Adams also had a big game for the Silver and Black against his old team, recording 3 tackles and bringing lots of energy.
The aforementioned Shedrick Jackson’s touchdown catch was part of a day where he led the Raiders receiving corps with 4 catches for 76 yards. The great-nephew of Raiders legend Bo Jackson certainly made his case to be on the 2025 roster.
Cornerback Isaiah Pola-Mao hauled in an interception for the Raiders in one of the bigger highlights of the night. Pola-Mao is projected to start for the Raiders at free safety, so seeing him be disruptive in the passing game is a good sign.
Running back Dylan Laube also caught a TD pass from Aidan O’Connell, and DT Treven Ma’ae recorded the only sack for the Raiders defense.
But who was your favorite player to watch in the preseason game, Raiders fans? Were you impressed with Cam Miller’s performance?
