Melissa Gorga and her husband, Joe Gorga, have filed a motion against Franklin Lakes after the borough allegedly failed to issue them a filming permit in a timely manner.
Nearly two months after it was reported that Melissa, 46, and Joe, 50, would be starring on Bravo’s upcoming series, Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, their filing has been shared on social media, seemingly revealing that the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast members may not have been able to film for the new show.
In a legal complaint filed on May 21, 2025, and shared by Real Housewife Junkie on X, Melissa and Joe’s attorney, William J. Rush, issued a plea to the Honorable Darren T. DiBiasi.
“Please be advised that I represent the Plaintiffs, Giuseppe Gorga and Melissa Gorga in the above-referenced matter. Plaintiffs are alleging that Defendants are wrongfully withholding and/or delaying the issuance of a Filming Permit in the Borough of Franklin Lakes. Plaintiffs are reality television performers and are under contract to film at their residence on June 6, 2025. In order for filming to take place on June 6, 2025, the application and all other permit requirements have to be filed with the Borough Clerk by May 30, 2025,” he wrote.
“Therefore, it is respectfully requested that the Court hear this Order to Show Cause at the Court’s earliest convenience so if Plaintiffs are granted the requested relief they will have enough time to file the appropriate permit and corresponding documents with the Borough Clerk by May 30, 2025,” he continued.
Back in May, Bravo & Cocktails reported that Melissa and Joe, along with Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson, 49, Real Housewives of Potomac‘s Dr. Wendy Osefo, 41, and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Angie Katsanevas, 51, would be featured on the debut season of Wife Swap.
It is unclear whether Melissa and Joe’s request was granted in time for filming.
