When the show first began, Shane was apprehensive about the potential effects it could have on their marriage and family life. Emily revealed,
“Going into the show five years ago, Shane was not a fan of being on the show at all," adding, “I think he just wasn’t comfortable. … I think people are more open to understanding our relationship and our marriage [now], when before, people were very judgmental."
Simpson’s journey with Shane on The Real Housewives of Orange County
Emily’s journey with Shane has evolved over the years. Initially, Shane’s discomfort with the cameras and public scrutiny often created friction. Viewers of The Real Housewives of Orange County didn’t react positively to him either.
His guarded demeanor led to significant criticism, with many labeling him as rude and unsupportive. Simpson acknowledged that her husband “came across as a big d—k” because he wasn’t comfortable being himself in front of the camera.
As Emily explained, “He was very careful about what he said,” and his behavior was often misinterpreted by fans.
She explained that despite his reservations, Shane supported her decision, even if he remained skeptical about the public exposure that reality TV entails.
She recalled his early stance, saying,l:
“He made that very clear to me. He was like, ‘I don’t wanna film, I don’t wanna be on a show.’”

However, with time, both Emily and Shane have adapted to life in front of the cameras. Five years after first appearing on the show, Emily shared that their marriage has improved, noting:
“Our relationship has done nothing but get better.”
Despite the challenges and external opinions, Shane has embraced his role, and viewers have begun to see a different side of him. Emily stated:
“People were very judgmental... and now they’re like, ‘Shane’s so funny.’”
The upcoming reunion episode: What to expect
Part two of The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 reunion is set to air on November 14, 2024. The first part, which aired on November 7, featured heated discussions, including Jennifer Pedranti’s accusation about Emily’s in-laws and Shannon Beador and Tamra Judge’s unresolved feud.
As the tension between the women escalated, Bravo TV teased more confrontations for part two.

Additionally, the ongoing conflict between Heather and Katie, stemming from allegations of social media posts, is expected to be a focal point of the upcoming episode.
Heather has strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling Katie’s claims “incredulous” and referencing past legal disputes that cast doubt on Katie’s credibility.
Fans are also anticipating more revelations about Jenn’s fiancé, Ryan Boyajian, and his alleged involvement in a gambling scandal.
Emily Simpson’s commentary on Ryan’s legal issues has already stirred significant drama, and part two promises to explore these tensions further
