EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Thursday announced the signing of tight end Robert Tonyan to the 53-man roster from Minnesota's practice squad.
To make room for Tonyan, the Vikings terminated the contract of running back Myles Gaskin, who also has been one of two players positioned to return kickoffs.
The Vikings (4-0) announced the moves ahead of traveling to the United Kingdom to "host" the New York Jets (2-2) Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tonyan has been elevated from the practice squad in each of the past two weeks, playing 10 snaps on offense and 23 snaps on special teams. He has not been targeted with a pass this season.
He has 87 career games of experience, including 68 with Green Bay from 2018-22 when he teamed with current Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Tonyan caught 137 passes for 1,437 yards and 17 touchdowns with the Packers.
Gaskin has spent time on the practice squad and 53-man roster since first joining Minnesota in 2023.
He has played two snaps on offense and 20 on special teams through four games this season, rushing once for a loss of 3 and returning three kickoffs a total of 60 yards.
Update: The Vikings signed Gaskin to their practice squad Thursday evening before the team's flight to London.
