The Dallas Cowboys suited up to face the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing all too well the likes of Cooper Rush or Trey Lance will have to do a good job. As Dak Prescott was standing on the sidelines due to his injury, he watched his fellow quarterbacks have a disastrous game. So much so that the name of former favorite Tony Romo cropped up.
The game started as Rush couldn’t advance the ball on the first drive, then on the second he fumbled. After that fumble, the Eagles scored a touchdown. On the following drive, the first backup did enough to net America’s team a field goal.
Then his defensive teammates forced an interception and a fumble from the Eagles. But not before the Cowboys offense had another fumble. By then, the home team had two field goals netting six points before the Eagles stretched the lead with another touchdown.
It was evident that the efforts of the returning Micah Parsons and his defensive teammates helped keep their rivals at bay. But all Cooper Rush could come up with was two field goals. In the second half, it was worse.
The men in green went on to score on three straight drives that not only put the game well out of reach. But also helped Jalen Hurts get some rest as Kenny Pickett took over for the final ten minutes. On the other hand, Rush’s second fumble of the night saw Trey Lance taking over.
But he did not fare any better as he threw one interception despite having a better night throwing the ball. Throughout the last few minutes, the mood among the Cowboys faithful watching this unfold was evident as broadcaster CBS picked up their sad faces.
Dallas Cowboys fans ask for Tony Romo to come down from broadcasting booth to save their season
The mood amongst the Dallas Cowboys fans was such that there is no doubt that Stephen A. Smith will have a time on his social media and ESPN. But how badly it affected those fans was summed up when a sign cropped up with this message.
Tony Romo, sitting in the broadcast booth for this game, was then seen stretching his shoulders. Even though they took it as a joke, it was evident those fans wanted someone they could bank on. Who better than the undrafted quarterback who went on to become a local hero.
Those five turnovers and six points were bad enough that anyone would want to take other chances. Even if it is a quarterback eight years removed after retirement and at age 44. Anything for them would be better than that annihilation.
