Lala Kent was questioned about whether she’d spoken to James Kennedy since his domestic violence arrest during a recent appearance on Amazon Live.

Just over a week after James, 32, was taken into custody and accused of body-slamming his victim, believed to be his girlfriend Ally Lewber, 28, the 34-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum confirmed that she reached out to Ally after the ordeal. Plus, she shared her thoughts about their relationship and was criticized by social media users for failing to speak out against abuse.

“I have not [spoken to James],” Lala confirmed, via Vanderpod Recaps on Instagram. “I’ve spoken with Ally. I checked in on her, and she wrote me a text back, and that’s all I’m really going to share on that topic.”

Although Lala didn’t want to directly address what allegedly took place between James and Ally, who began dating in 2022 after his split from Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 30, who previously accused him of abuse, she went on to react to an Amazon user who asked how she felt about their relationship.

“I don’t have many thoughts. You know what’s wild about getting older? As you get older you have your own life to worry about, that when something happens in someone else’s relationship you first and foremost want to make sure, like, ‘Hey, how are you doing? Are you okay? I’m here if you need me.’ But beyond that, I really don’t sit and think about anybody else’s relationship or have any thoughts about someone else’s relationship,” she explained.

According to Lala, she’s “too caught up in what’s going on” in her own household with her daughters, three-year-old Ocean and three-month-old Sosa, to worry about the relationships of others.

“So it’s not to say that I don’t care. But like I said, when you get older and you have families, you’re kind of focused on, you know, what goes on under your roof. So I haven’t put much thought into it. Like I said, I reached out to Ally, and I’m not going to share anything beyond that,” she stated.

But after a clip of her appearance was shared, Lala was met with backlash for not saying enough.

“The only right answer is ‘domestic violence is wrong. I don’t and will not condone it,'” one person stated.

Another person accused Lala of being “disconnected from reality,” and a third shamed her for not standing up against domestic violence.

“Un-following her immediately,” someone else declared.

“Wtf kind of answer is this?” another asked.

“[She’s] so flippant about her bestie being cuffed for abusing women,” agreed a separate IG user.

More social media users pointed out that Lala had commented on the relationships of others in the past.

“Doesn’t have thoughts about anyone’s relationships … except [Ariana Madix]’s. Ariana and [Tom Sandoval] sharing a house. Ariana moving too fast with [Daniel Wai]. Please,” someone complained. Another person noted, “She had so many things to say about Ariana and Dan.”

Vanderpump Rules season 12 begins filming next year with an all-new cast.
