Travis Kelce Makes Decision On If He Plans to Retire After Super Bowl: Report - suong

The Kansas City Chiefs punched their ticket to the Super Bowl after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 26.

While Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recorded seven catches for a season-high 117 yards and touchdown during Kansas City's win over the Houston Texans in the divisional round, Buffalo's defense kept the veteran contained Sunday.

The 10-time Pro Bowler registered two catches for 19 yards against the Bills, however, Kelce has made it clear that he doesn't care about personal stats as long he's helping the team win. The 35-year-old looked on top of the world after the game, celebrating the Chiefs success at Arrowhead Stadium his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

Should the Chiefs go on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans and become the first team in NFL history to win a Super Bowl three-peat, however, rumors swirl that this could be his swan song.

While Kelce has found incredible success off the field, he's not ready to hang up his cleats just yet, according to a new report.

A source told the Daily mail on Jan. 27, "Travis is not ready to retire himself. Whether the Chiefs win or lose, he would want to either go for the four-peat or avenge losing in the Super Bowl and would love to try to get back there.

"He understands he is in good shape professionally and personally when he retires, but as he gets asked about in the next two weeks, he wants to stay in the league. He still believes he has more to give."

The insider added, "Ask the same question next year, then we might have a conversation, but right now all his intentions are to stay with the Chiefs and play in the NFL next season whether they win or lose the Super Bowl."

As it stands, Kelce signed a restructured, two-year, $34.25 million contract in April that keeps him in Kansas City through the 2025 NFL season. While football is a violent sport, Kelce said that Swift is not pushing him to retire.

"She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game," he told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith earlier this month. "She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams."
