trade incoming? New York Rangers veteran forward sells $13 Million property in New York

The New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad has made a life-changing decision. He sold his $13 million West Village townhouse. Is this a sign of bigger things to come, as GM Chris Drury seeks to reshape the Rangers' identity?Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider

The New York Rangers center Mika Zibanejad had a disappointing 2024-2025 season. His team finished fifth in the Metropolitan Division, and his production declined significantly.
With news that GM Chris Drury is eager to reshape the identity of the Rangers during the offseason, there could be players who don't factor into the team's future.
Zibanejad, when he was asked about trade rumors this season:

"I know what my contract says. ... Both parties agreed to it, and like I said, I think I've earned it. Until it's time to adjust it, I have no plans of going [anywhere]. I've invested a lot of years here," Zibanejad said, via the New York Post.

If asked now, after the sale of his $13 million, 3,400 square foot, townhouse we wonder if he'd be as candid about the situation now as he was then.
Zibanejad originally bought the townhome in New York for a grand total of $9.7 million and has been able to capitalize on its value. Originally bought in 2022, Zibanejad netted a nice 30% profit off the sale.
The 19-foot-wide, Greek Revival-style site, in a historic district between Greenwich Avenue and West Fourth Street, appears to have been shopped around as a «whisper» listing, in that it wasn't publicly marketed, a tactic historically used by attention-shunning celebrities.

Could this be a sign of things to come? Zibanejad's production declined to the point where his name popped up in trade rumors this season. Considering we know how GM Chris Drury operates, it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that he might become part of those rumors again if Drury is serious about a new identity for the team.
This season, he scored a total of 62 points (20 goals, 42 assists) in 82 Games with the Rangers.
Zibanejad makes about $8.5 million AAV and would have to waive his no-movement clause in order for an actual trade to happen.
