In the wake of some big professional changes for Vanderpump Rules' Tom Schwartz as of late, like the VPR cast shakeup late last year, the entrepreneur has set his sights on new career horizons. And what he has up his sleeve next, just might surprise you.
More recently, Schwartz revealed his plans to "take a beat to recalibrate, then hit the ground running," he told People on Nov. 25. As it turns out, he is currently developing his own project with PodcastOne, titled Detox/Retox, which will launch this year. "I'm super excited about that," he told the publication. I'd like to also get behind the camera and produce some shows."
Schwartz, of course, follows the same course as many of the folks from the VPR and The Valley inner circle before him who host podcasts, including his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, who co-hosts the Disrespectfully podcast with Dayna Kathan.
What's next for Tom Schwartz after Schwartz & Sandy's being "officially closed"?
On top of that, Schwartz & Sandy's has officially closed (Schwartz co-owned the bar with Tom Sandoval from 2022 to its final days in December 2024).
Schwartz took to his Instagram Story more recently, in early Jan. 2025, where he shared a brief sentiment about the now-closed bar. He posted a photo of himself in the purple-hued bathroom, looking over the mirrored vanity, surrounded by lights. In the selfie, Schwartz can be seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt and hat, while flashing a peace sign in the mirror. "First weekend S&S is officially closed," he captioned the photo. "RIP."
He had previously expressed his sadness about the bar closing when he took to Instagram on Nov. 25 and released a statement about the bar's permanent closing. "There's some peace in knowing I gave my all into S&S, fully committed with every fiber of my being," he wrote in the post. "To all the patrons who came in and supported us, showed me love every single night I was in there, you kept me going through some of the harder times."
Ahead of the bar's closing, as he told People, he also hasn't ruled out working in the hospitality industry entirely, as he still co-owns TomTom with Sandoval. "I just moved into a new townhome, and for the first time in a while, I feel at home — so cozy," he added. "We'll still be holding things down at TomTom. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I'd still like to open a little dive bar someday."
Details on Tom Schwartz's appearance on Summer House Season 9
Schwartz will also be making an appearance on Summer House Season 9. In the trailer for the new season, he can be seen making a brief appearance, wearing a pink satin eye mask while talking to Paige DeSorbo, Amanda Batula, and Ciara Miller.
"You guys have to cherish this. You're a happy family," he tells the friend group. "I know it's sometimes dysfunctional, but it's a beautiful thing you have."
You can preview the season by checking out the trailer at the top of the post. We do know one thing ahead of the season, as Tom shared in an Instagram post back in the fall, noting how great the summer treated him. He wrote and reflected at the time, revealing, "What are we rating Summer of ‘24? 1-10? I’m giving it an 8.5."
Viewers will get to see how long Tom stays in the Hamptons when Summer House Season 9 premieres on Bravo with a supersized episode on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
