Julian Edelman turned 38 on Wednesday, and his former New England Patriots teammate, Tom Brady, took the opportunity to have some fun at his expense.
Brady shared a photo on his Instagram Story featuring himself and Edelman, starting with a warm birthday greeting, calling Edelman his "little brother." However, Brady couldn't resist injecting some humor into his message.
"Happy Birthday to the little brother I never asked for ..." Brady said.
"No seriously. Can someone come pick him up? He won't leave."
The post suggested that the two were spending time together, with Brady joking that he might already be getting tired of Edelman's company.
A strong relationship
Even after Edelman's retirement in 2020 and Brady's move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2019 season, their friendship has remained strong. The pair's brotherly bond is evident, as they continue to share playful banter and mutual respect.
Brady's ritual
Thank you for watching
Back in his prime, convincing Brady to break his strict diet or skip his physical therapy during the season was impossible. To test himself before playing official games, Brady engaged in a ritual that might seem unexpected to outsiders but was well-known to his teammates.
In a conversation on The Pat McAfee Show, Edelman revealed details about this peculiar pre-game habit. According to Edelman, Brady had a unique way of preparing himself mentally and physically for the challenges of the season, showcasing his unwavering commitment and discipline.
"Tom Brady would sit and smell the chicken wings before the game while the offensive linemen were eating them," he said.
"You know he loved a chicken wing but he had to use that mental toughness and give it a smell only. He preaches the TB12 s*** but he lives it. That's why you respect him."
