Tom Brady is throwing a flag on the play.
The football legend, 47, shut down rumors that he thinks Sofía Vergara, 53, is “too old” to date, noting in a statement from his rep that he “would never” say that.
"Tom never said, nor would he ever say, anything like this,” his rep told People in a July 10 statement. “It is pure fiction."
The seven-time Super Bowl champ’s reaction seems to be in response to an anonymous source’s claim that Tom doesn’t have plans to seriously date the Modern Family alum.
“He sees Sofía as beautiful and his type, but he isn't going to start a relationship with her,” the supposed insider told Daily Mail in an interview published earlier that day, “as she is older and stuck in her ways.”
Speculation of a budding romance between Tom and Sofía began earlier this month when the Griselda star shared a picture of the pair at dinner together, alongside musician J Balvin, while aboard a celeb-filled superyacht.
In the caption of the July 1 Instagram recap of her boat excursion—which also counted Kendall Jenner, Ricky Martin and Real Housewives star Jenna Lyons among its guests—Sofía wrote in the caption, “What a perfect weekend full of surprises!”
E! News reached out to their reps for comment on the romance rumors but didn’t hear back.
Following her 2023 breakup from Joe Manganiello, the America’s Got Talent judge—who shares son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, 33, with ex Joe Gonzalez—dated Beverly Hills surgeon Dr. Justin Saliman, though the pair called it quits in January. Last month, she was spotted sharing some PDA with rumored boyfriend Douglas Cabbott.

For his part, Tom—who shares kids Benjamin, 14, and Vivian, 11, with Gisele Bündchen, as well as son Jack, 17, with ex Bridget Moynahan—has kept his dating life mostly out of the spotlight since his 2022 divorce from Gisele.
