Tom Brady congratulates 'incredible' A'ja Wilson for breaking WNBA single-season scoring record

A'ja Wilson made WNBA history on Wednesday night, and she received some kind words from legendary quarterback Tom Brady the next day.

Wilson broke her league's single-season scoring record against Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever with her 940th and 941st points on a jumper right before halftime.

And Brady, who is a minority owner of Wilson's Las Vegas Aces, took to X to congratulate the two-time MVP on her record.

'There are so many incredible players in the right now,' he said. 'But there’s only one @_ajawilson22.'

The hoops star saw his message and replied, 'appreciate you!!'

Wilson shined with a 27-point, 12-rebound performance on Wednesday as her Sparks beat the Fever 86-75.

The previous single-season scoring record was set by Jewell Loyd in 2023 with 939 points.

While the WNBA season lasts 40 games, Wilson incredibly needed just 35 to pass Loyd's mark.

Wilson is averaging a career-high 27.3 points per game to go along with 11.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per contest.

The Aces announced on March 23 that Brady had purchased a minority stake in the franchise.

And less than two months later on May 14, the former Patriots and Buccaneers star was in the house as the defending champions opened up their regular season at home with a win against the Phoenix Mercury.

Aside from his minority stake in the Aces, Brady - who retired from the NFL for good in February 2023 - has recently been busy starting his broadcasting career with Fox Sports.

He made his debut as an in-game analyst in the Cowboys-Browns game last weekend -  though some fans quickly criticized his performance on air.

Nonetheless, he'll have a chance to further adjust himself to his new role this weekend when he calls the Saints' visit to Dallas.
