Tom Brady Admits Super Bowl Losses Had Major Impact on Him

After 23 seasons in the NFL, legendary quarterback Tom Brady decided to hang it up following the 2022 season.

This didn't come before Brady won seven Super Bowls and three NFL MVP awards with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In fact, Brady was so dominant that he has more rings than the team with the most, with the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers sitting with six apiece.

But Brady wasn't done with football following his playing career. He signed on with Fox Sports in May 2022 on a 10-year, $375 million contract, joining the lead team alongside Kevin Burkhardt and Erin Andrews.

Brady made his way back to the big game to call Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, his Super Bowl broadcasting debut.

Following the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana, Brady released a new vlog on YouTube called "Day In The Life at the Super Bowl." Toward the end of the clip, Brady admitted that his three Super Bowl losses (7-3 overall) had a major impact on him.

"You just don't sleep for a couple of days," Brady said. "You think it's a nightmare, you really do. You're like, that didn't happen. I woke up. It was a bad dream. And then you're like, it sinks in, and ultimately, you get over it. I mean, the acute pain, but then there's that chronic scar tissue of, like, making it that far and then coming up short.  Giants, Eagles, you know. Especially when you're the better team, like in all three Super Bowls we lost,  we were the better team. Not that day, but..."

For some reason, Brady struggled against NFC East teams in the Super Bowl. After defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX, Brady's next big game appearance was in Super Bowl XLII, when the Patriots were aiming for the first 19-0 record in NFL history.

But Eli Manning and the New York Giants pulled off one of the biggest upsets in history. Brady lost again to Manning and the Giants a few years later before falling to the Eagles in the 2017 season. Overall, Brady went 1-3 against NFC East teams in the Super Bowl.
