Thomas Girardi‘s ex-wife, Karen Girardi, who he was married to from 1964 until 1989, just nabbed $200,000 of the proceeds from the recent sale of the Pasadena home he once shared with estranged wife Erika Jayne.
Just months after the property, which was featured for years on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, sold for $7.5 million after numerous cuts off the original listing price of $13 million, Karen made a deal with the trustee presiding over the disbarred attorney’s bankruptcy proceedings.
According to court documents obtained by Radar Online on December 15, Karen signed an agreement with the trustee after attempting to collect on past-due spousal support for the past two years.
In August 2020, Karen filed court documents against Thomas, accusing him of being in contempt after failing to pay her the support she was due as part of their 1989 divorce settlement.
As the outlet noted, Thomas was required to pay Karen $10,000 per month after their split but requested the amount be reduced to $5,000 in February 2020. At that time, he told Karen he was tired “of paying and felt it was long enough.” Then, after Karen’s attorney demanded he pay up, Thomas ensured that he would after receiving “additional funds.”
Although Thomas eventually paid $40,000 for February and March 2020, he still owed $25,000 to Karen, and in October 2020, she claimed he owed her a total of $45,000. By this time, Thomas was in hot water with a number of his former clients and credits, many of whom accused him of stiffing them for thousands, or even millions, and ultimately, he was forced into bankruptcy in late 2020.
By June of this year, Karen was claiming she was owed $245,000 in overdue alimony. And just weeks later, it was reported that she had placed a lien on the home Thomas and Erika once shared.
As part of her $200,000 deal, Karen agreed to drop all future claims for support from Thomas.
