The View’s Ana Navarro tells the Golden Bachelorette she thinks the dating show is 'too corny' and 'scripted'

Months after begging The View producer to stop making the cohosts discuss The Golden Bachelor on air, panelist Ana Navarro backed up her stance against the dating show franchise by making a comical admission to Joan Vassos, star of The Golden Bachelorette, on Friday's episode of the talk show.

"All of them are big fans, I'm the outcast at this table. I've never watched an episode, it just doesn't attract me," Navarro told Vassos, standing behind her previously expressed distaste for the show, which also airs on The View's home network, ABC.

Still, Navarro told Vassos that she's "willing to be converted," before questioning Vassos on the dynamic of the program that she's skeptical about.

"What do you say to skeptics like me who think that this is all scripted and predetermined and kind of too corny for school?" Navarro said, looking directly into Vassos' eyes as she asked the question.

"I totally get why you would think that. It's not at all scripted, other than finding people that they think would be a good match for you," Vassos replied, with Navarro repeating "really?" twice as Vassos spoke. "Honestly, it's not scripted, it really isn't. They never tell you what to say, they never tell you who to pick. They arrange dates for you so that's really fun, but they have your input on that also, they ask you what you'd like to do. So, it honestly is not scripted, at least Bachelor's not, my Bachelor season wasn't, and Golden Bachelorette isn't either."

On a November 2023 episode of The View, Navarro expressed disinterest in breaking down The Golden Bachelor's first season, which marked the romance reality series' inaugural installment following an older man, 72-year-old Gerry Turner, as he searched for love among a group of older women all over the age of 60.

"I have one golden question. Brian, when is this show, The Golden Bachelor, over, so I no longer have to talk about it on Fridays?" Navarro asked, turning to producer Brian Teta. The camera then cut to the EP, who replied, "We have a few more weeks, but, I think we'll do a couple of extra shows, just for you."

"I think we should do a View-ing party and make her watch," Sara Haines playfully jabbed back.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
