Jax Taylor clarified his rehab timeline, as well as his custody and co-parenting arrangements with estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. The Valley star also shared more details about a past panic attack when Tom Schwartz allegedly gave him Xanax and a beer.

In the new season, Jax went to rehab for an addiction to cocaine and alcohol. On June 17, 2025, he shared on Watch What Happens Live that he was 201 days sober. Fans then questioned the timeline, given that he seemingly went to rehab well before that.

On his “In The Mind of Jax Taylor” podcast, Jax clarified his recent story about Tom giving him Xanax and a beer during a panic attack.

“This was before I got sober,” he said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I didn’t know what to do. This was my second panic attack, but this was a very, very intense one and I’ve never had one before. I didn’t know how to handle it.”

His publicist, Lori, called it “ridiculous” to give someone alcohol and a Xanax for a panic attack.

He then clarified his sobriety timeline amid fan speculation.

“You have to understand that the show was shot a year ago,” he said. “I went to rehab twice. So you guys all have to understand that as well … when you’re trying to add up the timelines.”

Lori said his first stint in rehab was July 24, 2024, and he stayed there for 30 days. His second stint was on November 28th, and he stayed 17 days. The second stint wasn’t filmed, and this is when he stopped using substances.

“I do smoke a little marijuana in the evenings from time to time, but that just keeps me calm at night, makes me sleep,” Jax added. “And the bipolar medication just kind of makes you leveled out a little bit. You know, controls my anger … All I know is I don’t drink and I don’t do cocaine anymore. Period.”

Later on, Jax addressed the custody situation with Brittany.

“Brittany does not have full custody either,” he said. “Co-parenting right now is going as good as it can be. Could it be better? Sure. Could it be worse? Absolutely. But it’s going, I can’t complain about it. I think it’s going pretty well.”

“I see Cruz a lot, probably between two and four times a week,” he explained. “Brittany and I have different schedules. So it’s [like], ‘Hey, can you come and grab him for a couple of days? Or can I have him for the day?’ … I’ve never had a supervised visit, [and] I don’t know where that [rumor] came from.”
