‘The Valley’ Star Gets Hit With 1st ‘Truth Bomb’ on WWHL

Andy Cohen had way too much fun on the most recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”  The Bravo host hit his guest, “The Valley” star Janet Caperna, with the very first “truth bomb” on the show, and it was a doozy.

As Caperna and her husband Jason sat in the Bravo Clubhouse for the live show on May 20, sirens went off and Cohen was tossed a black bomb. “Whoa!” he screamed. “Oh my God, it’s the truth bomb! It’s our first ever truth bomb, everybody!”

“Every time the truth bomb lands in the Clubhouse, one of my guests has to answer an explosive question we’ve been dying to know,” the gleeful Bravo host explained.

Cohen then announced that the very first truth bomb was for Janet Caperna–and it was all about her early friendship with OG Bravo star Scheana Shay.

Caperna is a longtime friend of several people in the former “Vanderpump Rules” friend group. She became a cast member on the spinoff series “The Valley” in 2024.

With the “truth bomb” in hand, Cohen asked Caperna the burning question on everyone’s mind: “Okay, Janet, once and for all, did you move to LA to infiltrate the ‘Vanderpump Rules ‘cast?”

Caperna replied, “I want to say yes because that would make such a good story. So, I wish that was true, but unfortunately, it was just Scheana [Shay] and I met and got along.”

Cohen then asked Caperna if she “ intentionally” went to a pool party where she knew Shay would be in an attempt to befriend her.

“I did not know she was going to be there,” Caperna replied. “It wasn’t like an advertised event.”

Caperna also denied that she ever tried to get a job at SUR, the Lisa Vanderpump-fronted West Hollywood restaurant that serves as the setting for ‘Vanderpump Rules.”

When asked if she was a fan of “Vanderpump Rules” before meeting Shay, she replied, “Who isn’t?”

Of being labeled a “fan girl,” Caperna admitted, “I kind of love it for Scheana because she deserves to have a super fan.”

The “truth bomb” question came after Caperna’s “The Valley” co-star Kristen Doute called her a fangirl during an argument. “I don’t think it’s any surprise to anyone, I’m pretty sure it’s out there on the net, that Janet was introduced to our friend group years and years ago as a fan of the show,” Doute told Decider in an interview.

Caperna was also asked about her reality TV connections in an interview with Glamour. In May 2025, she explained that she ended up moving from Ohio to Los Angeles because she wanted to “start over” after getting divorced at a young age. She had been familiar with LA because she had relatives who lived there.

“I decided to get divorced, moved to LA, and I met Scheana my first weekend right after I signed a lease. I met her at a pool party the next day,” Caperna explained to the outlet.

Caperna admitted she had watched “Vanderpump Rules” for years, so she knew who Shay was. “So I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s Scheana from Bravo,’” she said. “I went up to her and introduced myself as a fan. I was like, ‘I love you on the show.’”

Caperna said she bonded with Shay over their mutual divorces. ( Shay was going through her divorce from her first husband, Mike Shay, at the time.)

 “I started talking to her about life, and we had a lot of other things in common,” Caperna noted.

She then revealed that Shay took her to Disneyland for her birthday the next day, and the rest is history.

‘If I hadn’t met Scheana and gone up to her and talked to her…that’s how I met Jason. We have a baby now,” Caperna added. “So I credit that as being the butterfly effect of how I made so many of my friends in LA through Scheana, how I met my husband, and then now being a part of a show.”
