The New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury are reportedly shopping star defenseman: Per Elliotte Friedman

The New York Rangers are reportedly looking into trading away RFA defenseman K'Andre Miller. The former 1st-round pick will be put on the market, as the team will begin its retooling in the summer.K'Andre Miller

K'Andre Miller has a lot of traits that GMs in the NHL like. He's a physical, puck-moving defenseman who can skate. The first-round pick reached a career-high of 43 points in 2022-2023, but his production has declined since then.
Under Peter Laviolette, we've seen him struggle, and it's given the team some pause and a pretext to reconsider the future of the Rangers with him in it.
According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers have considered testing the market for Miller.

«There are some other defensemen out there and one of them people said to me is K'Andre Miller,» Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said. «That it's not a guarantee, but they are testing the market on K'Andre Miller. They want to know what it is, so we'll see where it goes, but his name is definitely out there.»
It seems the doubt surrounding him has crippled the front office's outlook on Miller's future.

He was once considered a top prospect with a bright future in the Rangers organization, but that has long since passed.

With a new coach, the team will likely head in a new direction in 2025-2026, and that could mean without Miller in tow.

While Miller expressed his desire to stay in New York, it could be beyond his control at this point in his career.

«Kind of hard to talk about my future here,» Miller said. «I have a great agent who is going to help me throughout this summer's process. I love being a New York Ranger. I think this has been some of the best years of my life. These past five years have been unforgettable in about every aspect you can think of. That's all I really have to comment on.»

Will Drury simply decide to move on from the former first-round pick? In 74 games this season, he scored a total of 27 points (7 goals, 20 assists).
