With the NFL season halfway through, the future for teams as to if they are contenders or pretenders has become clearer. With that also comes outlooks for free agents and potential landing spots for those players. A key free agent set to hit the market is Nick Chubb.

As Chubb is set to turn 29 in December, he hits the mark for the age running backs typically retire at. With the Cleveland Browns future currently up in the air with no security at the quarterback position, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Chubb move on. Not only is there the whole uncertainty with Deshaun Watson at quarterback, the Browns are currently $43,992,218 over the cap for 2025, making it even more difficult to re-sign Chubb.

Ultimately, Chubb will want to end his career off on a contender, putting himself in the best position to win a Super Bowl. That contending team that will have a running back need is the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2025, the Chiefs can expect to get Isiah Pacheco back, but how quickly he makes an impact coming off a fractured fibula. With Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Samaje Perine both set to be free agents as well, it will create a need for the Chiefs to look for a back to complement Pacheco and help him ease back to play without having a large workload.

Chubb since returning from injury over three games has put up 113 yards and a touchdown. Upon joining the Chiefs, he would be bringing his physical rushing style that has led to him accumulating 6,624 yards and 49 rushing touchdowns over his career. Chubb on an offense with Patrick Mahomes would be ideal for both sides.
