Terry Bradshaw's Saquon Barkley Super Bowl LIX Commentary Draws Attention - suong

Terry Bradshaw is 76 years old, and at times, seated at the desk for the Fox Sports pregame and halftime shows, he seems it. While Bradshaw is mostly a loveable and folksy character with four Super Bowls to his credit, he also has become known for slipping up when reading off highlights and sometimes going on uncomfortable tangents.

On Sunday in New Orleans, ahead of Super Bowl LIX between the Chiefs and the Eagles, it was uncomfortable tangent time.

Bradshaw was recalling the reactions he got back in 1974, when he led the Steelers to the first Super Bowl championship in franchise history. And one user, "TheeRockyRambo," wondered, "Did Terry Bradshaw just say some racist (expletive) or am I trippin?"

Here's what Bradshaw said: "Then you win a Super Bowl and you go to the parade and here's what you hear at the parade: 'Hey Bradshaw, hey boy! You better win this sucker again next year, you hillbilly or we'll run your (expleteive) out of here. So, don't ever expect to satisfy them."

Bradshaw was referring to the reception that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been frequently criticized in and ourt of Philadelphia, will get even if he wins on Sunday night. Bradhsaw should know--even as he kept winning rings in Pittsburgh in the 1970s, the Steelers repeatedly brought in potential replacements.

Another user on Twitter/X noted that Bradshaw's comments made others at the desk cringe a bit.

Another user called Bradshaw's characterization of Philadelphia's view of Hurts flat-out wrong.

They wrote: "Very disingenuous and wrong from Terry Bradshaw… outside of idiots on WIP, Philly loves Jalen Hurts… it’s NATIONAL media that is constantly saying he’s not good enough. We love him and we’ll keep rocking with him thank you very much Terry."

But the wider view concerned what, exactly, it was that Bradshaw was trying to say.

"What the (expletive) did Terry Bradshaw just say?" one user wondered.

It was, indeed, a good question.
